I fell in love with these Turkish towels at the New York Gift Fair a few years ago and since then I’ve seen them pop up all over the place. I love their look (remind me of French toweling) and versatility (packed for a beach trip they could be used as towel, sarong, blanket, not to mention picnic blanket or table cloth).
But, it’s hard to believe they’re absorbent enough to be a bath or beach towel so I was excited when I got to try one at Brooklyn’s stylish Wythe Hotel. The verdict? Yes, they do work as a towel (though not as cozy as terrycloth towels), but Turkish towels are great for travel and could be a good substitute for terry in a bathroom in the summer. (Also here are cute tan and turquoise ones.)
